Facilitation for Results
Facilitation is so much more than leading people in discussion. A facilitative approach is essential when multiple perspectives are needed in all phases of a project, from needs identification, to planning, to evaluation. An outside facilitator is essential when internal capacity is stretched or project leaders want to be full participants.
Bright Light Ideas uses individual and group activities to engage people in deeper discussion and reflection. I draw from participatory facilitation methods such as Human Centered Design, Liberating Structures, Design Thinking and Visual Facilitation. These techniques create a space where people fully engage in the process, are able to see how all the moving parts fit together and engage their creativity. The result? New ideas, energized participants, increased understanding, and out-of-the-box thinking.
As a community development specialist, I am experienced in creating processes to engage participants whose voices are often left out of important conversations. I hold space for complex conversations where people can be vulnerable and honest in order to bring their genuine selves into the process.
I work with you to clarify the desired outcomes, map out the agenda, and develop activities that meet your participants’ needs. Adding visuals to any facilitated process will create a rich and transformative experience for your team.
